Andy’s a bit of a culture hound. He’s looking for the raw, deep cuts, sifting through the world’s record collection to find life’s next big album. It’s a track that often finds him getting lost in all the best ways, either deep in the creative process or in the outdoors with a handful of friends.
Andy honed his print and digital skills at local Reno firms and now channels his talents into crafting thoughtful, intelligent solutions at Stan Can Design. His past and present client roster includes names like Yosemite, Reno Tahoe, Renown Medical, and Autodesk. Whether it’s intuitive UI/UX design, a rad mobile app, or a powerful brand from the ground up, Andy can build it.
His list of heroes checks all of boxes of an inspired designer – Sagmeister, Beirut, Rand, Scher, with a little Depeche Mode, Pavement, and Ty Segall sprinkled in for effect. It’s that contrast of tastes, where sophisticated design collides with punk rock, that lights Andy’s capable, yet radical, approach to his craft.
To say he was born a creative would be an understatement. His parents met in the kiln room of their university ceramics department, his oldest brother is a fellow designer, and the other is a chef. A background like that could explain why Andy turned an adolescent affinity for graffiti into a love for type and, eventually, a passion for great design.
As lofty as it all might sound, Andy remains grounded: he attributes 100% of his cool factor to his best friend, and official Stan Can office dog, Murdock (who is, in fact, very heckin’ cool).
