We love working with friends and making friends with the people we work with, which is why we’re thrilled, once again, to work with our good friend Kate O’Hara. Kate also happens to be an absolutely world class illustrator and after an exciting year that saw her designing bestselling book covers, being featured in Communication Arts, and helping us make our mark on the Addy Awards, Kate was chosen as this year’s Artown featured artist.
We worked with Kate on the concept for a poster design that perfectly suited her strengths as an illustrator: fable-worthy penciling, wonderful hand lettering, and the kind of detailing that crushes the brains of us mere mortals.
In addition to the skill of every artist, we try to do something special with the design of each year’s Artown poster. The 2017 design builds upon last year’s, getting even more horizontal to properly showcase Kate’s great work.
Scroll through detailed images of the letters below and watch yourself get just a little bit more excited for July after each one. Don’t forget to check out the Artown website to check out this year’s events and save your favorites to your personal schedule!
